Internship objective: Lawrence Productions Video Production internship is designed to provided experience in virtually all aspects of video production including pre-production, client relations, on-location production, studio production and video and audio post-production.

About the interning organization: Lawrence Productions Inc. (a privately owned corporation) is a full-service video and audio production company. Our professional production staff consists of writers, directors, producers, animators, camera operators, audio engineers, computer programmers, multimedia experts, and video editors.

We also own and operate a software company specializing in the design and distribution of educational products. Our facilities in Grand Rapids are equipped to provide two full time on-location camera crews, 30' by 40' studio, animation, multimedia department, one digital audio post-production suite and three digital video editing suites. This unique combination of talents and abilities, usually found only in coastal metropolitan areas, has positioned LPI to help our clients that want to take advantage of the technology and communication opportunities that exist in this global age

Interning organizations mission: To be a renowned and profitable electronic media production company.

Semesters interns are needed: Fall, Spring, Su I & Su II annually

Number of interns needed: 2

Start date: On or near the first day of the semester registered; negotiable

End date: On or near the Friday before finals week of the semester registered; negotiable

Hours per week: 15-20 hours per week/depending upon the number of weeks scheduled to intern.

Academic qualifications: Declared major in Communication Studies, Organizational Communication, Public Relations, Journalism or a declared minor in Communication.

Desired skills and qualifications: Student interns should have a basic knowledge of television production, excellent communication skills, work well with others and be self-motivated.

Description of intern responsibilities: Interns at Lawrence Productions participate in many ways including Production Assistant, Associate Producer, Grip, field logging, tape labeling, script writing, client meetings, and assisting in the general operation of the business as required.

Credit: A maximum of 6 college credits toward s communication major, minor or general electives. One hour of college credit is earned for 40 hours of work.

Evaluation: The evaluation and grade will be completed by Internship Coordinator Marilyn Kritzman and will be based upon the following:
The student’s journal/log/observation of all intern activities
The student’s copy of all work produced
Final paper
The internship sponsor mid-internship evaluation
The internship sponsor final evaluation

Method of evaluation:
Student’s journal/log: 20%
Student’s work: 20 %
Paper: 20%
Internship sponsor mid-internship evaluation: 20%
Internship sponsor final evaluation: 20%

Calendar:
E-mail updates to faculty sponsor every month.
Additional communication via email, phone or in person as needed
All materials are to be submitted to Marilyn Kritzman on the Wednesday of finals week of the semester/session registered.
Internship sponsor evaluation due half way through the internship
Internship sponsor final evaluation due the Wednesday of finals week with the rest of the material. It may be submitted with the student’s materials in a sealed envelope, or the sponsor may submit it separately by the due date.
