Internship objective: You may earn college credit while gaining experience in a variety of areas such as event planning, database usage, networking, creative thinking, and marketing. While the position is unpaid, the hours are flexible and you will be gaining unmatchable experience in your chosen field of interest! You will also be opening doors for yourself as you network your way through the planning stages of local Cumulus Broadcasting, Inc. sponsored events.

About the interning organization: Cumulus Media is an organization that broadcasts WWCK-FM (CK 105.5), WRSR (103.9 The FOX), WDZZ (Z92.7), and WWCK-AM (Super-talk 1570), and handles their promotional events as well.

Semesters interns are needed: Fall, Spring, Su I & Su II (annually)

Number of interns needed: Up to 20 interns each semester

Start date: Interns needed all year round. Interns can start whenever they are able. Cumulus Media suggest that an internship last approximately three months

Start date: Students may consider starting their internship on or near the first day of the semester (negotiable).

End date: On or near the last day of the semester (negotiable).

Hours per week: 10 hours per week/depending upon the number of weeks an intern is scheduled.

Academic qualifications: Declared major in Communication Studies, Organizational Communication, Public Relations, Film, Video & Media Studies, Journalism or a declared minor in Communication.

Desired skills and qualifications: Student interns should be 18 years +, outgoing and willing to help. A valid driver’s license is required.

Description of intern responsibilities: Interns will assist the promotions director with the implementation of promotional events (large or small) for these four stations: WWCK-FM (CK 105.5), WRSR (103.9 The FOX), WDZZ (Z92.7), and WWCK-AM (Supertalk 1570).

Credit: College credit toward communication major, minor or general electives. One hour of college credit is earned for 40 hours of work. Student interns must be registered for academic credit.

Evaluation: The evaluation and grade will be completed by Internship Coordinator Marilyn Kritzman and will be based upon the following:
The student’s journal/log/observation of all intern activities
The student’s copy of all work produced
Final paper
The internship sponsor mid-internship evaluation
The internship sponsor final evaluation

Method of Evaluation:
Student’s journal/log: 20%
Student’s work: 20 %
Paper: 20%
Internship sponsor mid-internship evaluation: 20%
Internship sponsor final evaluation: 20%

Calendar:
E-mail updates to faculty sponsor every two weeks.
Additional communication via email, phone or in person as needed
All materials are to be submitted to Marilyn Kritzman on the Wednesday of finals week of the semester/session registered.
Internship sponsor evaluation due half way through the internship
Internship sponsor final evaluation due the Wednesday of finals with the rest of the material. It may be submitted with the student’s materials in a sealed envelope, or the sponsor may submit it separately by the due date.
