Internship objective: To receive a hands-on experience within a sports organization. Interns will have the chance to help behind the scenes and learn what it takes to run a successful sports organization. Internships are ideal for students who have interest in the sports industry.

Availability: The K-Wings Hockey Club offers full internships or game day internships in both the fall and the spring. Office hours are required for internship credit.

Hours: Negotiable, depending on the hours needed to receive credit.

Internship Responsibilities: Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
-Public Relations:
Assist with the production of media guides and game notes for the K-Wings.
Edit press releases and other media.
Assist in the press box on game nights by running the UHL live scoreboard, contacting the local media, sending out information to the media and the league and assisting with the live radio broadcast.


-Marketing and Promotions:
Assist with booking and coordinating National Anthem performers.
Assist with in-arena promotions and events.
Create flyers to promote up-coming events and promotions.
Organizing and attending player/ mascot appearances.
Assisting with the K-Wings Kidz Club.


-Group Ticket Sales:
Prospect and cultivate group and season ticket sales for the Kalamazoo Wings.
Assist with the development and implementation of theme game nights.
Create flyers and brochures for group sales and game nights.
Interns are expected to complete assignments from all departments.

Interested students should submit a current resume and a cover letter describing what department or area interests you, your field of study, what semester you are interested in and why you are interested in an internship with the K- Wings Hockey Club.

Evaluation: The evaluation and grade will be completed by Internship Coordinator Marilyn Kritzman and will be based upon the following:
The student’s journal/log/observation of all intern activities
The student’s copy of all work produced
Final paper
The internship sponsor mid-internship evaluation
The internship sponsor final evaluation

Method of evaluation:
Student’s journal/log: 20%
Student’s work: 20 %
Paper: 20%
Internship sponsor mid-internship evaluation: 20%
Internship sponsor final evaluation: 20%

Calendar:
E-mail updates to faculty sponsor every month.
Additional communication via email, phone or in person as needed
All materials are to be submitted to Marilyn Kritzman on the Wednesday of final weeks of the semester/session registered.
Internship sponsor evaluation due half way through the internship
Internship sponsor final evaluation due the Wednesday of finals week with the rest of the material. It may be submitted with the student’s materials in a sealed envelope, or the sponsor may submit it separately by the due date.
