Internship objective: The Internship Program at the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit (MOCAD) offers participants "hands on" training in the museum profession and a comprehensive overview of museum operations. Interns also gain insight into the national and international world of contemporary art. MOCAD interns have the unique opportunity to participate in the development and expansion of these programs and operations.

Semesters interns are needed: Fall, Spring, Su I & Su II annually.

Number of interns needed: Minimum of 1

Start date: On or near the first day of the semester, negotiable

End date: On or near the last day of the semester, negotiable

Hours per week: 14 hrs per week for 12 weeks

Academic qualifications: Declared major or minor in the School of Communication

Desired skills and qualifications:

Over the age of 18 are eligible to apply for an internship.

Qualifications vary for each intern position and some positions may require college or graduate training and/or professional experience.

Credit: College credit toward communication major, minor or general electives. One hour of college credit is earned for 40 hours of work.

Interested students should contact: Download the application from http://www.mocadetroit.org/opportunities/internships.html. Interns must submit an intern application form along with two letters of recommendation from professors and/or previous employers, a resume and a cover letter. The Department Supervisor will notify selected interns of acceptance at least two weeks before the start of each cycle.

Evaluation: The evaluation and grade will be completed by Internship Coordinator Marilyn Kritzman and will be based upon the following:

  1. The student’s journal/log/observation of all intern activities
  2. The student’s copy of all work produced
  3. The student’s learning objectives and progress made toward the learning objectives
  4. Final paper
  5. The internship sponsor mid-internship evaluation
  6. The internship sponsor final evaluation

Method of Evaluation:

  1. Student’s journal/log: 20%
  2. Student’s work: 20 %
  3. Paper: 20%
  4. Internship sponsor mid-internship evaluation: 20%
  5. Internship sponsor final evaluation: 20%

Calendar:

  1. E-mail updates to faculty sponsor every month.
  2. Additional communication via email, phone or in person as needed
  3. All materials are to be submitted to Marilyn Kritzman on the Wednesday prior to final weeks of the semester/session registered.
  4. Internship sponsor evaluation due half way through the internship
  5. Internship sponsor final evaluation due the Wednesday of finals week with the rest of the material. The evaluation may be submitted with the student’s materials in a sealed envelope, or the sponsor may submit it separately by the due date.

Internship objective: Hour Media, the publisher of Hour Detroit, DBusiness, Detroit Home, Metro Detroit Bride and Detroit Home Improvement magazines and more, is proud to offer marketing internships during all semesters. Ideal candidates will work a minimum of 20 hours per week during fall, winter, spring or summer term. Schedules are negotiable, but a minimum three-month commitment is required.

Description of intern responsibilities: A marketing intern will assist the marketing director and assistant in day-to-day departmental functions, including press release writing and distributing, developing and distributing promotional materials, assisting with marketing campaigns for all publications, Web marketing, event planning, managing and tracking company donations, archiving, assisting in the ordering of promotional marketing tools and more.

Internship objective: The 94.7 WCSX Internship Program is designed to give students the opportunity to put together and execute street marketing and to be a major contributor to a major radio station’s Marketing & Promotions department. Interns will be involved in all areas of marketing including direct, mass and database marketing. If you are looking to learn more about radio broadcasting, event marketing and promotions then 94.7 WCSX is the answer.

About the interning organization: 94.7 WCSX is a Greater Media Detroit Company which also owns 101 WRIF and 105.1 WMGC. WCSX has a very successful intern hire rate within the broadcasting field. Our goal is for students to succeed in broadcasting as well as our own station interest.

Interning organizations mission: The goal for the WCSX internship program is to help up and coming marketing professionals gain knowledge & experience.

Semesters interns are needed: fall, sp;ring su I and su II (combined) annually

Hours per week: 12-20 hours

Qualifications: Students must be enrolled in an accredited college, university or trade school. A WCSX internship is an unpaid internship. The student MUST be receiving course credit for participation in the internship program. They must complete all university/college and WCSX paperwork and waivers prior to beginning the internship. Interested students must be interested in learning all facets of radio promotion and marketing. Students must have reliable transportation to and from assignments.

Description of intern responsibilities and learning objective:
Develop and improve their promotion/marketing skills
Broaden their perspective on radio career options
Obtain real world radio promotion/marketing experience
Earn college credit
Increase their marketability for full time employment after graduation

94.7 offers:
The opportunity to be involved in various promotional decision meeting’s with the WCSX Sales Staff.
The ability to work with three highly rated Detroit radio stations.
From time to time, interns may be asked to assist with the promotion efforts of any of Greater Media Detroit stations.
Participate in monthly educational seminars and Q&A with a member of the Greater Media Detroit staff.
Topics will range from engineering to customer service.
An Exit interview at the end of their internship with 94.7 WCSX.
We will be looking for feedback on the nature of their experience and welcome suggestions that they may have on improving the program.
