Academic qualifications: Declared major or minor in the School of Communication

Desired skills and qualifications: Student interns should have excellent verbal and written communications skills and work well in both independent and group settings. Candidate must also be knowledgeable of current social media outlets and be dependable, creative, flexible, and enthusiastic. Organizational skills and knowledge in Microsoft Word and Excel are required.

Description of intern responsibilities: Responsibilities include assisting with research and writing of articles for zoo publications, assisting with various developmental tasks including correspondence with media, guests and sponsors, and general administrative tasks.

Internship objective: This internship will be designed to teach all aspects of Human Resources including recruitment and retention of our associates, as well as compliance with labor laws, state/federal guidelines regarding skilled nursing facilities. About the interning organization: Life Care Center of Plainwell is a skilled nursing facility in Plainwell, MI (10 miles north of Kalamazoo), which offers rehabilitation and long-term care to patients. LCCP employs our own staff including therapists, nurses, nurse aides, dietary, housekeeping/laundry services to a maximum capacity of 117 patients.
