Internship objective: Leading Online Publishing, Media and Events Company is looking for Journalism Interns. This internship allows for tremendous hands on experience and learning. We are looking for interns who are hard working, independent, dedicated, flexible, creative and highly innovative!
About the interning organization: Global Health Insurance Publications, www.freehealth.com, is part of Free Health LLC is the leading publisher of health insurance and healthcare magazines and books in the US and Internationally. Global Health Insurance Publications also organizes the largest International Health Insurance and Healthcare Conferences in the world focused on employers, insurance companies and health insurance agents.
Magazine: Global Insurance Publication consists of four cutting edge Employer Healthcare Publications, the Corporate Wellness Magazine, www.CorporateWellnessMagazine.com, the Healthcare Reform Magazine, www.HealthcareReformMagazine.com, the Self Funding Magazine, www.SelfFundingMagazine.com, and the Voluntary Benefits Magazine, www.VoluntaryBenefitsMagazine.com. Global insurance publication is currently looking for interns for these magazines. These four publications are the leading magazines of their industry. The magazine’s distribution is nationwide. In 2011 we are going to launch our magazine on iPad’s Androids and iPhones. The Global Health Insurance Publications is the only group of magazines dedicated to bringing all those involved or interested in the industry in the most cutting edge information.
Association & Magazine Newsletter:
• Assist in Identifying New Ideas, Industry Trends, and Innovative Industry Initiatives.
• Working closely with the Communications Department researching Breaking News, Trends and Industry Events.
Webinars: The GHI Publications provides Educational Webinars on various industry topics. These webinars have been created in part to educate the Medical Tourism Industry and in part to educate U.S. Employers, Insurance Companies, and Health Insurance Agents.
• Assist Communications Department in Identifying Industry Trends, Topics, Innovative Healthcare Solutions on a National Scale and
• Reach out to Industry Experts to Conduct Webinars
• Assist in Maintaining Records of Webinar Attendees and Perhaps Creating Surveys and Other Types of Literature to be Released After Webinar Takes Place
Semesters interns are needed: Summer 1 & 2 2011, fall 2011, spring 2011
Number of interns needed: Minimum of 1
Start date: Negotiable
End date: Negotiable
Hours per week: Work maximum of 30 hours per/week (4 days), and minimum of 10 hours per week (2 days).
Academic qualifications: Last year/semester undergraduate or graduate student
Desired skills and qualifications:
• Strong command of the English language
• Strong computers skills, expert in use of MS Office Suite.
• Proficiency in writing and internet research
• Strong interest in communications or journalism
• Strong interest in multimedia
• Excellent organizational skills
• Expertise in social media (blogging, social networking, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter ect.)
• Interested in gathering, reporting, and analyzing information and putting it in a format that is understood by others.
• Other skills that are useful but are not necessary
Description of intern responsibilities:
• Specific Articles & Past Issues will be Assigned to Provide Foundation and to Allow Intern to Become Familiarized with Style, Content, Industry Issues and Trends
• Working Closely with Editorial Department ~ Gather & Collect Articles
• Research & Write Articles Assigned ~ Shadow Assistant Editor in Communication with Graphic Designer, Printer and Web Designer
• Participate in Photo Selection
• Check Online Articles for Accuracy and Content (Authors Biographies & Photos)
• Conduct Interviews Both via Podcast and in Writing
• Identify New Ideas, Industry Trends, and Innovative Initiatives for Future Articles and New Authors
• Notify Authors and Provide the Links to Their Published Articles
• Conducting Interviews with industry professionals
• Conducting Podcasts (Live, Recorded Interviews) with the possibility of transcribing

Evaluation: The evaluation and grade will be completed by Internship Coordinator Marilyn Kritzman and will be based upon the following:
• The students journal/log/observation of all intern activities
• The students copy of all work produced
• The students learning objectives and progress made toward the learning objectives
• Final paper
• The internship sponsor mid-internship evaluation
• The internship sponsor final evaluation
Method of Evaluation:
• Students journal/ log: 20 %
• Students work: 205
• Paper: 20%
• Internship sponsor mid-internship evaluation: 20%
• Internship sponsor final evaluation: 20%
Calendar:
• Email updates to faculty sponsor every month.
• Additional communication via email, phone or in person as needed
• All materials are to be submitted to Marilyn Kritzman on the Wednesday prior to final weeks of the semester/session registered.
• Internship sponsor evaluation due half way through the internship
• Internship sponsor final evaluation due the Wednesday of finals week with the rest of the material. The evaluation may be submitted with the student’s materials in a sealed envelope, or the sponsor may submit it separately by the due date.
